The Bindweed School

Uplifting the next generation of land stewards.

On 5 acres in Niwot, Colorado, we are building an intergenerational school focused on restoring the relationship between ecology, agriculture, and community.

Programs

Farm Based Middle School

In partnership with Mountain Shadows Montessori, this full-time 6-8th grade middle school program operates on the farm, where students get to learn vital life skills in a real farm context.

Adult Classes

The Farmstead School is our home base for adult classes designed to help aspiring land stewards overcome key barriers to getting started. Classes offer the chance to learn real-life, hands on skills in the design and install of systems like vegetable gardens, rain gardens, contour swales, forest gardens, grazing systems, compost strategies, etc… Please see our Courses tab for available classes.

Volunteer Memberships

We believe in the power of community coming together to tend their own ecosystems and food systems. Our volunteer membership program provides participants with a flexible, accessible way to get intimately involved on the farm and share in the bounty the land offers. In 2027, our volunteer membership program will shift to the farmstead school. See here for more info on how it works.

High School Permaculture Design Certification

Stay tuned for our 2027 High School Permaculture Design Course. This program will combine PINA’s permaculture design curriculum with immersive, hands-on experience running a diverse permaculture farm during the summer months. High schoolers will take home a food share each week and gain a certification valuable for college applications and future jobs in agriculture, environmental science, landscape architecture, and many related fields.
